A local court today sent 13 accused arrested in connection with a clash between sand mafia and villagers injuring 10 persons, to 14 days of judicial custody


Muzaffarnagar: A local court today sent 13 accused arrested in connection with a clash between sand mafia and villagers injuring 10 persons, to 14 days of judicial custody.

13 people including sand mafias Devender, Promod, Asad, Hardeep, Farzan, Mangey Ram, Rahul, Ahsan, Sanjiv, Intezar , Ramvilas, Rajpal Kirshan and Bablu were arrested yesterday in connection with clash over sand mining at Bidoli village in Shamli district, police said. 10 persons including village chief Anwar Singh were injured in clash when sand lifting mafias attacked them.

The clash broke out when members of the sand mafia gang fired upon locals after they confronted them over the illegal sand mining being carried out on their land near the river Yamuna.
