Twenty-seven-year-old Jyoti (name changed) could never have imagined that her quest to seek a life partner through a matrimonial website would end up in her being raped. The incident came to light on Tuesday. A senior police official said that the accused was identified as Vaibhav Dixit, a software engineer with an IT major.
According to the police, Jyoti who is a practicing advocate at a city court, had created her profile on a matrimonial website some six months ago.u00a0 She met Vaibhav,u00a0 who lives in Noida, through this site in October last and both decided to meet.
"Jyoti said that they both met in Noida and south Delhi several times after which the accused expressed his willing to marry her. During one such meeting, he took her to Noida in his car and raped her," said a police official.
"Jyoti said that after the incident, the accused started ignoring her phone calls. Feeling cheated, she filed a complaint against him. A case of kidnapping and rape has been registered," the official added.
The police then conducted several raids at his place and finally on Tuesday arrested him from his house.
