The election fever reaches an all time high at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) with prominent politicians from different parties filing their nominations

A day after chief minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan filed his nomination as a representative of Mazgaon Cricket Club, today a prominent Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gopinath Munde made his maiden foray in the MCA after filing nomination from Stylo Cricketers.

Both clubs - Mazgaon CC and Stylo - are owned by Shah Alam Shaikh.

"We are delighted that Mr Munde has also agreed to represent our club in the MCA," Shaikh told MiD DAY hours after submitting the nomination letter to the MCA.

Today is the last day for filing nominations of club representatives for October 18 MCA polls.

Shaikh was instrumental in getting former MCA boss late Vilasrao Deshmukh into cricket politics.

It is learnt that Munde would not contest for the president's post.

NCP chief and former MCA president Sharad Pawar has all but made his intentions clear to his Bal Mahadalkkar group members of coming back to MCA.
