The first test-firing of India's indigenous intercontinental ballistic missile Agni-V has been postponed for today due to adverse weather conditions, a defence ministry spokesperson said.

The 5,000 km-range missile was scheduled for launch yesterday from Wheelers' Island off the coast in Odisha's Bhadrak district. "It has been postponed until tomorrow (Thursday) because of safety reason due to heavy lightning in the area," defence ministry spokesperson Sitanshu Kar said..

The successful test firing of Agni-V will enable India's entry into the group of selected nations with intercontinental nuclear missile defence capabilities.
