Ahead of monsoon, MMRDA starts 24-hour control room

MMRDA starts 24-hour control room to help guard Mumbaikars against disaster situations during the monsoon season.


The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has set up a 24-hour control room to help Mumbaikars deal with any disaster situations during the monsoon.

The control room was set up by MRRDA will look to minimise inconvenience to vehicular traffic and pedestrians in Mumbai due to at the various projects sites it has undertaken in the city - like metro rail, monorail and elevated freeway

The public will also be able to seek help from the control room in case of uprooting of trees, water logging, accidents, traffic, snarls, potholes, etc.

The control room, which was started on June 1, will be monitored by five nodal officers and managed by their 41 officials in three shifts.

"The control room will work in tandem with Railways, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, Traffic Police, BEST, Fire Brigade and other agencies," said Dilip Kawathkar, Joint Project Director (PR), MMRDA.
