The Rajya Sabha MP, who was suffering a urinary tract infection, shows no signs of improvement
Former Samajwadi Party (SP) general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh, who has been jailed for his alleged role in the cash-for-vote scam, was shifted to the VIP ward of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Wednesday. Singh, in judicial custody, was admitted on September 12 following complications related to post-renal transplant, urinary tract infection, diarrhoea, diabetes, dehydration, hypothyroid and hypertension.
According to doctors treating Amar Singh, the SP leader is suffering from urinary tract infection and needs constant medical attention. However, his condition is stable. In its medical report, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) told a Delhi court yesterday that Amar Singh needs psychiatric consultation for his 'anxiety and restlessness', "He continues to have vomiting and diarrhoea for which the gastroenterologist has suggested automatic function tests and endoscopy with mucosal biopsy," the report said.
Meanwhile actress-politician Jaya Prada who visited Singh on Wednesday said, "His medical update is not as good as it should be. He still has infection in kidney, sugar levels are also going up and down."
"We cannot go inside as only one person is allowed. So his wife is going inside. We are praying that he should be alright. What happened with him was unfair. He doesn't deserve this kind of punishment," she added.
