In November 2009, the Asiatic Society conducted a series of workshops by experts titled, Beyond Boundaries. The well-received sessions looked into tiny nuances of this historic city. The Society now plans to set up a city display centre in a corner of its premises. "It's Dr Aroon Tikekar's (President of the Society) brainchild.

Of course, the actual work can begin only after restoration of the interiors is complete. It promises to be a repository of Mumbai's history and rich legacy," says Dr Meena Vaishampayan, Honorary Secretary, Asiatic Society. The section will have a two-fold entry policy, allowing both, public and members to access the facility.
This apart, the Society is busying itself for a three-day celebration to commemorate Nobel
laureate Rabindranath Tagore's 150th birth centenary between December 3 and 5, with eminent speakers from India and abroad dropping by.

A Rabindra Sangeet performance by a Kolkata-based group is on the cards.
