The organisation is planning to increase the seating capacity, install LCD screens and show animated shorts on road safety issues for those waiting for their learner’s licence
Getting your learners licence done at the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) will now be a faster and breezy process. The administration is planning to make some upgrades by increasing the seating capacity; installing LCD screens and showcasing animated documentaries on road safety issues.

Applicants visiting the RTO for their learner's licence have to stand in long queues to complete the required process. "We want to utilise this âwaiting' time to give the customers some relief along with entertainment and road safety awareness. So we are planning to do some infrastructural changes in this section, which will have a long waiting lounge where seating capacity will be now increased to 200 seats," deputy regional transport officer Anil Valiv told mid-day.
"One LCD screen with speakers will be installed to feature short clips and documentaries on road safety issues. The short films screened will deal with issues such as lane cutting, night driving, talking on mobile phone while driving and rough driving. Also a special 15 minute documentary on HIV awareness will be shown repeatedly the entire day," added Valiv.
The RTO will also be introducing a token system for the first time. Just like banks, applicants will be given a token number, when the number is displayed the person can proceed to complete the process.
