Pune International Fashion Week to be held this month-end will showcase work of designers from city as well as MumbaiThe city is slowly but steadily clambering up the style charts. After the Pune Fashion Week (PFW), it's now the turn of the Pune International Fashion Week to set the town ablaze. The three-day event organised by Jazzmatazzworld will be held in the last week of this month. The organisers have some big plans lined up.
Choosing the best: Auditions were held to select models for the eventAbout 12 designers will showcase their work, of which a few are popular names from Mumbai like Aslam Khan, Aruna Singh, Jai-Parvesh, Arshi Jamal, S2O and Pune-based Divya-Priyanka.
Sajid, director of Jazzmatazzworld Event, the idea behind the event was to etch the city's name in the international market. "We did not want to repeat the same thing that happened at the PFW and so starting from designers to models we have a different set of people. We have not repeated the designers and we have an audition to select the models," he said.u00a0 "We have a few international models and a few designers at the fashion week."
People working closely with the PIFW said that they even had plans to take the event abroad in the next two to three months. "In the next three months we will take PIFW to Dubai where more of the Pune designers will get a chance to showcase their work. It will be a platform to take business from the city to other bigger ones," said Sajid.
Aslam Khan, a designer said: "I know a lot of organisers whose only aim is to make money using the calibre of the designer. But the organisers of this event seemed to be honest with their plans." Asked how a designer gained through such events, he said except for a couple of fashion weeks, none got business for designers. "I am also impressed with the city models who came for the auditions," he said.u00a0u00a0
