TILAK Nagar police have been flooded with complaints against a 'blade' company that promised people sites on the city outskirts and then disappears with their money.
On Friday, four more victims filed complaints against Ashirwad Shelters, a real estate company, for cheating them of several lakhs.
While businessman Jagat Narayana lost Rs 2.8 lakh, Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, Lakshmi Birendra and Sanjay Kumar were cheated of Rs 2.8 lakh, Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh respectively.
The police said that they had received three complaints against Ashirwad Shelters before.
According to the complainants, Hariprasad, Gorish Bogur and Dinesh, partners of the firm, were operating from Jayanagar Fourth Block. They promised sites at cheaper rates in Chikkaballapura and collected an advance from the victims for registration and vanished.
The incident came to light when victims went to the office and found it locked for days. Enquiries with the landlord revealed that they had vacated the office a few days before the "registration of properties".
Police suspect that over 50 people may have lost money though most have not yet filed a complaint.
The scam comes close on the heels of the Country Club cheating incident.
