Get ready to breathe in cleaner air in the Capital.
The Delhi Government has decided to launch a special drive to take stringent action against the polluting commercial vehicles coming from outside and plying in the Capital. Instructions to this effect were issued on Wednesday by Transport Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely who said state-of-the-art equipment will be used in this drives to check overspeeding and pollution.
At a meeting with top officials of his department, Lovely discussed the issue of vehicular pollution in the Capital and instructed them to launch a special drive to tackle the problem.
He also wanted them to control overspeeding and overloading of commercial vehicles.
He said his department will not hesitate to impound any vehicle found violating the norms. "For short-term financial gains, commercial vehicle owners resort to overloading which leads to increased emission of hazardous gas in the air," Lovely said
