A 29-year-old driver recruited by the Indian Army allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself at 8, Akbar Road, in New Delhi on Monday evening. A senior police official said a call in this regard was received at Tughlak Road police Station around 3:30 pm.

The official said the deceased was identified as Bhoomkka, a native of Karnataka. "Bhoomkka was deputed at the house of Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, Vice-Admiral Shekhar Sinha. He shot himself in the head using his INSAS rifle.

A colleague heard the shot, found him lying in a pool of blood, and called the police," he said. Bhoomkka was immediately rushed to the Armed Forces' clinic, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. He was posted at Akbar Road on 12 July.

"Bhoomkka, who was from Army Artillery, was on duty between 2-4 pm. He got married around three months ago. No suicide note has been found," said the police.
