The new art gallery in town is a treasure trove of original paintings, sculptures and artistic printsu00a0
A brand new house of art has opened at Koregaon Park. The Ark Art Frames located on North Main Road houses three floors of artwork and is a glass-fronted building.
"I have a background of framing art and have three other outlets in the city. After visiting several foreign countries, I decided to give Pune a brand new feel of art," said owner Arvind Kadam. He added that he's also trying to change the perception that art is costly and also bring art from places like Mumbai.
Divided into three levels, the ground floor displays modern art by Prashat Hirlekar and Sanat Kar as well as acrylic on canvas with soft colours by Satyanand Mohan.u00a0 The set of sculptures depicting a man and a boy is also eye-catching.
On the first floor are housed a range of Buddha prints and paintings with sandstone that have a 3D effect. There are Picasso prints and framed Raja Ravi Varma paintings as well. Don't miss the range of fishes made from metal, glass and sandstone.u00a0
Get heady from nostalgia as the second floor stores a range of posters from epoch-making movies and plays like Cats, Evita, The Last Samurai and ET.
If all this browsing makes you want to read up on your favourite artists, flip through coffee table books on artists Raja Ravi Varma, Bikash Bhattacharjee, Satish Gujral, Sanat Kar and Picasso.
