If you love your Royal Enfield Bullet bike, then Roadshakers is the club for you, feels Aanchal KurmiWhen four strangers happened to meet on the Internet eight years ago, little did they realise they had taken the first step towards fulfilling their dream of starting a bike club. All of them shared a passion for their Royal Enfield Bullet bikes, so it was only natural that they come together to form their dream club. That's how in 2001, Roadshakers was born and Sachin Chavan, Kiran Jois, Stephen D'Souza and Santosh Kumar became its founding members.
In the early years, the members would recruit anyone whom they spot riding a Bullet on the road. According to Manish Kothari, another member, "The family has grown over the years and now has 300 bikers." However, the club has a more formal enrollment procedure now.
Roadshakers organises a number of events throughout the year. On weekends, the bikers travel to nearby spots such as Bhandardara, Rajmachi, Pahuna Dam, Hedvi, Mahabaleshwar and Alibag. They organise a yearly eventu00a0 called Riders Mania, during which they explore new destination every time.
Roadshakers member Baljeet Singh Kochhar feels the club is more than a family to him. "This club gave me back my friends, with whom I had lost touch after college. Come what may, we meet every week without fail. We simply love it."
Sohail Khanna, a college student, succinctly explains the spirit of the club when he says, "Roadshakers is all about passion and adventure."
