Auto driver violated traffic rules, says archery coach Lenin's father

Cherukuri Satyanarayana, father of Indian archery coach Cherukiri Lenin, who died in a road accident yesterday said that it was not his son's fault.

"My son Lenin was driving and we were almost home. We were coming back from a ceremony organised by Chief Minister K Rosaiah when our car collided with an autorickshaw coming from the opposite side. The accident happened at 2 am on National Highway 5.u00a0 The auto driver violated the rules and was driving in the wrong lane," said Lenin Sr told IANS.

Lenin was killed while two CWG silver medallists, Ritul Chatterjee and Chittibomma Jignesh, were injured in the accident near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. International archer-turned-coach Lenin, his father, Ritul and Jignesh were returning to Vijayawada after attending a felicitation function in Hyderabad.u00a0Lenin, a former India archer, was one of the coaches of the CWG medal-winning men's and women's team.
