Even as Independence Day celebrations have ended in most parts of the city, the joy of true freedom is just beginning to spread in its centre. As the idea of love for the motherland takes off and all the superficial barriers around it dissolve, an upcoming art expo by Gallery Seven Art Limited plans to act as an agent to bring out diverse colours of this feeling. We embark upon an exploration.

Around the world
Through a variety of mediums like art installations, paintings, photographsu00a0 and prints among others, artists from Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Iran, Pakistan and the United States explore ways in which various dynamic relationships in the political, social and cognitive structures intersect. The participating artists are Hemali Bhuta (India), Ajit Chauhan (USA), Siamak Filizadeh (Iran), Chitra Ganesh (USA), Barbad Golshiri (Iran), Matthias Muller (Germany), Yamini Nayyar (USA), Vijai Patchineelam (Brazil), Srestha Rit Premnath (India/USA), Mahbub Shah (Pakistan), Kiran Subbaiah (India), Jaret Vadera (Canada) and Haeri Yoo (Korea).

Out of the box
Canadian artist Jaret Vadera is exhibiting a work from his 'Here be Dragons' series in which he layers photographic prints taken from experimental paintings and represents them on light boxes. According to him, "My work is somewhat of a connection between varied thought processes, which are woven together. It's like picking up an X-ray in which you manage to see objects, which you otherwise can't, with your naked eye. It's an amalgamation of abstract thoughts, which forms the world around us."

Desi vibes
Indian artist Hemali Bhuta has taken the good old cactus, and reversed its role in her art installation. "Most people think that the cactus is only used as a medium for protection in courtyards, but I have kind of reversed its role and used it as a celestial objectu00a0 something that gives a divine feeling," he says. On the other hand, Kiran Subbaiah displays the 'video surveillance camera', which he claims he did 'just for fun' in his art arrangement.

In a nutshell, you can look forward to creative, crazy art that is devoid of conventional connotations and anything that can be termed typical.

Happy Independence Days, yet again!
