Leaders stage protest; are in Delhi to meet party chief Nitin Gadkari

Are there too many politicians in this country? Regardless of the answer, a group of UP BJP MLAs, who arrived in the Capital late on Tuesday night, had a nasty surprise in store for them.

The seven MLAs - Ramapati Shastri (former minister) Akshay Bhalal Gaur (former minister) Subhash Tripathi, Mukut Bihari, Jay Prakash Chaturvedi, Kunwar Maninder Singh and Swtantra Dev Singh - reached Delhi at around 11 pm, but when they went to UP Bhawan looking for accommodation they were stopped by the security guards posted there.

The MLAs then decided to stage a protest outside the building. They alleged that rooms had already been booked by them but they were still stopped from entering the Bhawan. They showed our reporter a letter of room allotment.

Meanwhile, three of the MLAs - Jay Prakash Chaturvedi, Kunwar Maninder Singh and Swtantra Dev - called off their protest and left the premises in search of accommodation while the rest of the leaders decided to continue the demonstration. The MLAs are in Delhi to meet BJP President Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a Congress leader from Varanasi, Virender Singh said that the BJP MLAs should adjust according to the situation. He said there was a lack of rooms at the UP Bhawan.u00a0

"They were being provided two rooms but they insisted and demanded single rooms for each person. They should learn to adjust," said the Congress leader.
