"The BJP should resign from the chairmanship of Standing Committee before burning the effigy of Ajit Pawar for the ritual of Ravandahan on the occasion of Dusshera," said Rajpal. "With our support, Bidkar was elected as the chairman. The party should resign from the chairmanship before doing this immature act. BJP always engages in such type of acts at the time of elections. As the Khadakwasla bypoll is imminent, BJP is trying to gain undue advantage from such religious acts."
Rajpal also asked the BJP to take care of the infighting in the party rather than getting involved in petty politics through religious rituals. Retorting to Rajpal's statements, Mathkari said, "As far as the matter of our resignation is concerned we never asked for anyone's help in the election of chairman of the Standing Committee. The NCP voted for us as it did not want to vote for the Congress candidate."
BJP also organised Ravandahan programmes in Pimpri and Kondhwa. Rajpal said the NCP did not need any Ravandahan as it was trying to control corruption and bring progressive thoughts among the people.u00a0
