Accused belongs to Bulandshahr, UP
A BJP leader from Bulandshahr in western Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the Special Staff of the Delhi Police for carrying hooch on Thursday night from Badarpur.
Sanjay Kumar, a local BJP leader and an elected member of the Gram Panchayat, was intercepted by the police near the Aali Gaon traffic signal. "We had a tip-off that Kumar is involved in the business of supplying hooch. Police have recovered 20 boxes full of illicit liquor from his Scorpio car. Kumar said that he bought hooch from Faridabad and was on his way to Bulandshahr to sell it," the police said.
"He tried to influence us by showing his political clout but when we found hooch boxes from his car, he stopped arguing," a senior police officer told MiD DAY.
A case of Excise Act was filed against Kumar at the Badarpur police station. The police have also impounded his car.
