BMC had allotted a contract worth Rs 218 crore for construction of Love Grove and Cleaveland Bander in Worli. "They (Unity Infra Project) could not complete the work in the designated period, which caused water logging in monsoon. They would be blacklisted in few days," said Rahul Shewale, chairman of the civic standing committee.

The civic body has already issued show cause notices to Unity Infra Projects. Laxman Vhatkar, chief engineer of Storm Water Drain conceded, "We have sent them two notices and we too replied to them about our dissatisfaction."

"The work of Love Grove pumping station is 35-40 per cent completed, but it should be ready by now. They have not started work on Cleaveland pumping station yet. It cause serious problem during monsoon inconveniencing citizens," said Shewale.

He further said, "The company has dumped debris and blocked the water flow towards the sea which would cause water logging till Dadar which is serious."

Abhijit Avarsekar, vice chairman of the company denied the allegations. "I have not received any show cause notice. There is delay of around 2 months in the work of Love Grove pumping station, but that is because of shortage of sand while regarding Cleaveland pumping station, we are yet to receive clearances from the authority," he said. He also assured that they will try to complete Love Grove pumping station in time.u00a0
