BSF on Saturday foiled an infiltration bid after a brief exchange of fire between troops and militants along the Indo-Pak border in Garkhal near here.
A patrolling party of BSF observed some movement in forward area of Garkhal, 30 kms from here, in Pargwal belt around 0400 hours and challenged the infiltrating militants, police said.
The militants opened fire and the BSF troops fired back resulting in exchanges which continued for half an hour following which militants fled back, they said. This is the third infiltration bid by the militants in the region this year.
The first infiltration bid was foiled by BSF in Narianpur Border Out post in Ramgarh sub-sector of Samba district on January 4. It was followed by another infiltration bid along the LoC in Balakote area of Poonch district yesterday.
