In the backdrop of recent fissures in the ruling BJP in Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today met RSS leaders here and discussed political situation in the state. The meeting came in the wake of some ministers and legislators directing their ire at Yeddyurappa's style of functioning.
Issues pertaining to the organisation were also discussed, the sources said. The Chief Minister's secretariat, however, sought to downplay the meeting, saying "It is a routine meeting which Yeddyurappa attends. No special significance should be attached to it." The meeting heard Yeddyurappa's version of dissensions in the party as also the government's programmes under implementation.
Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley, in-charge of the party's Karnataka affairs, had rushed here last week on a trouble shooting mission to stem dissidence. He had directed both groups not to precipitate matters and to maintain discipline.
Four ministers -- Janardhan Reddy, his brother Karunakara Reddy and their close associate B Sreeramulu and K S Eshwarappa had boycotted the May 31 first anniversary celebrations of the BJP government.
