Six vehicles recovered from two men, seven from a third person
The Bhosari police arrested an externed criminal, Satish Pandurang Bhandekar (29) of Pimpri, and his accomplice Ashish Bashir Shaikh (28) from Chinchwad for vehicle theft on Sunday. The police recovered six stolen two-wheelers from the two.
According to the police, Bhandekar was a notorious criminal who mainly operated in the Bhosari area. Bhandekar was externed from the district two months ago, but was found violating the orders on Sunday. "During primary interrogation, the two confessed to six vehicle thefts," a police official said.
Gang of robbers
The Sangvi police said they had busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of a man named Vijay Bhaskar Shinde (27) from Pimpri. The other gang members escaped, but the police recovered three stolen cars and four bikes worth Rs 10 lakh from Shinde.
Police Constable Shivaji Sambre nabbed Shinde on Sunday while he was on patrolling duty. Shinde and his friend were on their bike and Sambre gave chase.
"Shinde has been stealing four-wheelers and bikes from areas like Nigdi, Chinchwad, Hinjewadi, Pimpri. He is a notorious criminal on police record," Police Inspector Sarjerao Gaikwad said. "Shinde and his gang used
to steal vehicles with duplicate keys. Later, they used to commit robberies with these stolen vehicles on highways at night."
