Proximity to a hip, chic eatery like The Bagel Shop could prove either beneficial for a new venture (the crowds can spill over) or detrimental thanks to inevitable comparisons. But as we discovered, a cute new cafu00e9 that calls itself the Sandwich & Co., doesn't have reason to worry. Tucked away in a quiet lane off Perry Cross Road, this hole-in-the-wall serves sandwiches (of course), croissants, desserts and a selection of cold meats, cheeses and breads.

From the vegetarian fare, we opted for the More Than Mozzarella (Rs 225), and Asparagus Aiolo N Artichoke (Rs 275) Sandwiches. The former, with Italian buffalo mozzarella layered between tomato and basil in a sliced multi-grain country loaf, was, yes you guessed it, too cheesy for us. But we liked the Asparagus Aiolo N Artichoke Sandwich, dressed with roasted garlic mayo.
The non-vegetarian selection has a Smoked Turkey (Rs 275) sandwich that comes in whole wheat bread layered with cranberry mayo. The Minute Steak (Rs 325), a French baguette with grilled beef tenderloin, was juicy, and generously filled. You can't go away without picking up the Lindt Cupcake. Divine.
This snack shack is a must-visit, but with a sandwich priced at close to 300 bucks, make sure your wallet is loaded.
