Qateel Siddiqui, named in several terror cases, including the Pune German Bakery blast and Bangalore terror attacks, was today strangled to death by other inmates inside the high-security Yerwada jail in Pune

Suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Mohammad Qateel Siddiqui was lodged in Yerwada Central Jail for his alleged role in in the German Bakery blast and the Bangalore terror attacks.

Siddiqui was found murdered in his prison cell at around happened at 10:30 am today, his body has been sent for postmortem. , police said.u00a0

"Qateel was murdered in the jail," a senior ATS official told PTI. Qateel was suspected to have been strangled to death by some inmates following a brawl, police said.u00a0
Siddiqui, named in several terror cases,u00a0was arrested by the Delhi police in 2011.

Pune Central Jail in Yerwada

Qateel Siddiqui, was allegedly involved in the blast at Chinnaswamy cricket stadium two years ago. The low-intensity blast during a cricket match left several people injured.

The reason and motive for the killing is currently being investigated by the police.u00a0Maharashtra Home Minister R.R. Patil was monitoring the situation.
