"The efficacy of the concept is being tested. It will gradually be installed across the city. The one that has been installed at the Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road is meant to help visitors to IPL matches," he added.
City commuters are welcoming of the VMS initiative. "The new sign board is of real help," said Gopal B, a regular commuter from MG Road to Vijaynagar.
"I get to know of the traffic on Mysore Road and plan my route accordingly. It also helped me recently after I had been to the second IPL match.

How It Works |
The Variable Message Signboard (VMS) is the state-government sponsored Bangalore Traffic Improvement Project-B-TRAC -2010u00a0 (B-TRAC) initiative supported by the traffic police. u00a0 It is a LED display board linked to the TMC (Traffic Management Centre).
The messages are constantly updated informing motorists about roads that should be avoided. The information flashes also communicate information on jam-packed roads.
The information is sourced from inputs provided by on-duty traffic officers on a moment-to-moment basis. |
