After braving rising waves of protest, four 6-member civic teams and labourers from many departments had somehow managed to get through inside the compound and survey the illegal apartments. To their dismay, they saw that only eight of the 96 illegal flats had been completely vacated.

The politicians present at the spot to extend support to the residents talked at length with the civic officials and, finally, dissuaded them from cutting off the supplies to residents who were yet to vacate the unauthorised apartments.

Their plea made on humanitarian grounds struck a chord with the civic authority, which spared the residents still inhabiting the illegal houses. They got another night to stay under their roof with the essential supplies.

The BMC has all the intention to visit them today after 9 in the morning, and cut off their utilities, whether they are occupying the flats or not. u00a0
