One person was killed and around ten others were injured in a clash between two communities in the Jarcha village of Greater Noida on Monday. According to the police, the clash continued for over three hours and several rounds of gunfire were exchanged between the two groups.

Noida SSP A K Singh said, "This is the first time in the history of this village when an incidents like this has occurred. The village has a population of around 5,500 with almost equal number of people from the separate communities. Devendra, a 30-year-old youth was killed in the clash and 10 others were injured."
The clash had its genesis in an incident that occurred on June 12 when three youths of one community went to purchase a battery from a shop run by a member of the other community.
They had a brief altercation following which the police arrested the three customers - Sanju, Mukesh and Rakesh. However, while they were returning home on Monday after getting bail members of the other community allegedly attacked them.
Rioters also torched two houses in the village, a local told MiD DAY.
