Amitabh Bachchan's gesture to help his saviour nurse, now ailing, has gone in vain as her son and sister have made away with the money.

Banking on big B: Julie was one of three nurses that tended to Bachchan during his 10-day stay at St Philomena's Hospital in Bangalore in 1982 |
Not a single paisa of the Rs 2 lakh, which Bachchan sent to nurse Julie (57) last year, has gone towards her medical expenses.
Julie was responsible for the Bollywood superstar's recovery after a serious accident on the sets of Coolie. In 1982, Julie took care for Bachchan round the clock at St Philomena's Hospital in Bangalore, where he was hospitalised.
Julie is now bedridden. "Others took away all the money he sent me," she told MiD DAY. "I can't move from my bed. I need his help again."u00a0
Prized necklace
A bead necklace, which the Bachchans gifted Julie, is something she still cherishes.
Julie now stays at a home for the destitute, run by Humanitarian Transit Home. As one of the three nurses entrusted with the responsibility of caring for Bachchan, she spent 10 days nursing him back to health.
"He is a very nice person. I used to give him his pills three times a day. He used to call my name loudly in his own style," she recalled.
In 2008, when Julie was hospitalised with demyelination (when the insulation on the nerves wears off), Amitabh sent her a cheque for Rs 2 lakh. He also called her and wished a speedy recovery.
"Bachchan sent her a cheque 26 years after she had cared for him," said Suri M, Administrator, Humantarian Transit Home, where she has been staying for the last five years. "But it didn't help, as her sister and son took away the entire amount."
Stabbed in the backThey reportedly took her signature and withdrew the money, promising to return it soon, but haven't come back with it. Julie's condition is getting worse and she has no money for medicines.
Julie, is now hoping the star will come to her rescue again.
Doctors have prescribed new medicines and told her she can't walk unless she takes them.
"I hope my message reaches him through you and he will help," she said.
Julie had hoped to meet Bachchan after he recovered last year.
"But she's in no shape to do that," said Suri.
