Plump foil plate of Lasagna, a scrumptious-tangy Prawn Pattice, a refreshing Lemonadeu00a0- you can't run out of reasons to drop by at any of Bandra's three Candies outlets. But here's one more. The Pali branch boasts a brand new, gigantic peace mosaic that brings together Bob Marley, Jesus Christ, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi and the Dalai Lama.

You walk through the courtyard that carries sun-moon motifs, and wind your way to the roof. The climb is symbolic of proprietor and self-taught mosaic enthusiast Allan Pereira's design journey. So, while the patterns at the ground level are simple, small, even raw, they gradually get intricate as you move up, and by the time you step out into the Sky Garden, with ambassadors of peace in marble smiling down at you, you know that the amiable, bald man who talks little and smiles a lot, has put his heart into his art.

The Bandra resident painstakingly puts together coloured marble bits to create pensive faces of women, Biblical scenes, birds and abstracts. "It's therapeutic. The religious references aren't deliberate. I don't even read the Bible. These are just pretty images I may have seen somewhere. They've stayed with me," he says.u00a0

The highest level sports a black-and-white Michael Jackson work that Pereira says is his way of paying tribute to the legend. The peace collage is inspired by a picture he had seen on the net.
