Brigadier's son not subjected to blood test after accident, cops later say he wasn't driving
"I just had 2-3 pegs," a youth in his 20s told the Chaturshungi police after he rammed his car into a divider last night. He made this admission in the presence of a MiD Day team and also said he was an Army brigadier's son.
The Maruti Palio turned turtle after hitting the divider at Baner Road around 11 pm but no one was injured.
When MiD Day asked Constable K Rengne for the youth's identity, he refused to share it. He also skirted a question on why the youth wasn't being charged for drink driving or being subjected to a breathalyser or blood test despite admitting to drinking.
"Sir is yet to issue instructions on what charges to press. He [the youth] didn't hurt anyone, he just had two pegs. So far no case has been registered," was all he said.
Later, when MiD Day called the police station, they said a minor offence had been lodged as the drunk boy was merely a passenger and not driving the car.
