Victim claims the accused approached her pretending to be her husband while she was asleepA 27-year-old computer operator at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was allegedly raped by her brother-in-law in Mehrauli area of southeast Delhi.
The victim claims the accused was masquerading as her husband while she was sleeping at night. A senior police officer said Vijay Kumar, the accused, had been arrested.
"Neha (name changed), lives in Maidangarhi village area along with her husband Jagvir and family.
She said that the accused Vijay took advantage of darkness to rape her. But when she switched on the light she came to know that it was notu00a0her husband. She raised an alarm, hearing which other family members rushed to her room and beat up Vijay. Police were called and the accused was arrested," he said.
The officer added that Neha was taken to AIIMS for medical examination. Police lodged an FIR after rape was established in the report.
"Neha works as a computer operator with IGNOU. The accused often used to visit her house since he was her husband's cousin," said the officer.
