Burglar gang held

Three people, known as the 'Babul Gang', were arrested for robbery in Delhi on Wednesday. Mohammad Nazir, Guddu Khan, and the leader, Babul, had seven cases of robbery reported against them.

The trap
The gang was apprehended after the police were tipped off that the accused would be coming to Andrews Ganj.

"Our team was present there much before their arrival. We chased them for a while and later caught them on the August Kranti Marg. They revealed that one Pawan Kumar Anand, a local jeweller, was responsible for keeping their stolen jewellery. We also found that Guddu had other cases of snatching registered against him," said Chhaya Sharma, DCP, South District.

The loot
She added, "The police recovered around 2.5 kg of jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh. The gang was also involved in the Amar Colony, Rajinder Nagar and Chirag Delhi thefts. Their modus operandi was to target houses around noon."

All the accused have been involved in burglaries for the last 6-7 years. After every three-four robberies, Bablu used to go back to his home in Kolkata till the incidents lost heat, and then return for more.
