Burglars steal ATM machine with Rs 10 lakh

In the absence of a security guard and CCTV cameras, unidentified burglars fled away with Union Bank of India's 100-kg ATM machine containing Rs 10 lakh at Kasarwadi yesterday.

Missing guard
The police have detained Niranjan Adagale, the security guard at the ATM. According to sources, "He was addicted to alcohol and would often disappear from duty during work hours."

Inspector Ravindra Chaudhar of Bhosari police station said, "Adagale said he returned from duty because he was not feeling well." He added, "The renovation work for the bank's branch was underway in Kasarwadi. We will inquire with some carpenters who were working in the night."

Union Bank had deposited Rs 10 lakh in the ATM machine on Saturday." Police suspect the incident took place between 3 and 3.30 am.
