CCTV footage captures images of masked thieves attempting unsuccessful heist at NCL Campus on Pashan Road
A CCTV camera captured images of three unidentified persons who tried unsuccessfully to break open the State Bank of India (SBI) ATM machine at the NCL Campus on Pashan Road around 1.30 am on Monday.
Machine damaged
Explaining the incident, API AS Phalle of the Chaturshrungi Police Station said, "The masked men could not break open the ATM. They fled the scene after some time and the cash is safe, but they have damaged the machine. The security guard was sleeping while the men attempted the burglary."
However, V S Brahmankar, branch manager of SBI's Pashan Road branch, refuted the allegation. He said that the security officer had tried to stop the three from entering the ATM cubicle before
they overpowered him with a knife. "They pushed him inside the cabin and tied him up. Since the branch was shut, the thieves found it relatively easy to strike," said Brahmankar.
No arrests have been made in the case so far.
