CM Chavan to meet Pune Merchants Association over LBT strike today

In response to the indefinite strike of traders against the local body tax (LBT), Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has called a meeting with the representatives of Pune Merchant Association in Mumbai today at 4 pm.


In response to the indefinite strike of traders against the local body tax (LBT), Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has called a meeting with the representatives of Pune Merchant Association in Mumbai today at 4 pm.

President of the Association Popatlal Oswal said, "We have formed a five-member committee to discuss the issue with the CM. It includes me, Fatechand Ranka, Suryakant Pathak, Mahendra Pitaliya and Ajit Sethiya. MLA Mohan Joshi has organised this meeting."

The association had organised a protest at the PMC office in which over 5,000 merchants participated. The representatives also submitted a memorandum to Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Pathak regarding the issue. "We hope there will be some solution on the LBT after the meeting. We want a concrete decision in written format. Till then, all merchants will continue their strike," he added.u00a0
