26-year-old from Civil Engineering diploma course writes colleagues a note before disappearing, says family problems pushing him to suicide
A 26-year-old jawan, Kalyan T, has gone missing from the College of Military Engineering (CME) in Dapodi, reportedly after going through family problems for some months. A couple of days ago he wrote a note to his colleagues saying he would soon end his life as he could not take it any more.
Kalyan was in the third year of the Diploma in Civil Engineering course at the CME. He was on guard duty on Monday evening, after which he went missing.
CME administration officer Subhedar Dilip Tate filed a missing person complaint at the Bhosari police station.
Investigation officer Pagade of the Bhosari police station said, "After Kalyan did not show up on Monday evening, the guard commander looked for him all over the CME. Kalyan's motorcycle was also not in its place. Other jawans staying in the barracks admitted that they had received a note written from Kalyan a few days ago saying he was going to commit suicide because of family problems."
Tate said, "Kalyan was married and had recently shifted his family to Pune. He was unable to pay the bills after a relative of his was operated on in a civil hospital. Also, Kalyan's parents were unhappy with him for having married a girl against his choice. Kalyan had also discussed these problems with some senior officers of CME."
Tate said a few days ago he had seen Kalyan crying.
"He was talking on the phone with his family and crying. Kalyan was disturbed because his father, a retired police inspector, was urging him to join the police force instead of military," said Tate.
