A city-based software engineer paid a huge price for sharing his credit card details while rescheduling a flight ticket to the US recently. Prasob Conis, a resident of Bharati Nagar ended up losing Rs 1.3 lakh when some unknown person fraudulently swiped his card to make an online purchase for the amount.

In his complaint Conis said, "I had booked a flight ticket to the US as part of my official tour and called Emirates Airlines situated on Vittal Mallya Road to advance travel dates to July 12. The airline obliged and asked me to pay a service charge amounting to a little over Rs 10,000."

He added that it was at this point that he shared his credit card details to cover the cost. "After two attempts, I was informed by the office staff that they could not make the transaction, following which I went to the office personally and paid the amount from the same card two days later," he informed.

The incident came to light five days later when Conis received a SMS alert informing him about three online transactions with a UK based online credit banking facility website on July 17. The amounts swiped for were US $454, US$ 874 and US$ 980.

"I have not shared by account details with anyone except the Emirates staff," Conis said suspecting their involvement in the fraud. The Frazer Town police have taken up a cheating complaint and are investigating.
