Two car thieves find creative ways of stealing and selling off luxury sedan

Sandeep Sawant, 23, and Karan Kaushik, 26, had a simple plan. Go into a bar, steal someone's car keys and then leave with the car.

However, it dawned upon them only a bit late that selling off a luxury car was more difficult than stealing it.
The duo was arrested by the Delhi Police while they were trying to sell off a Toyota Camry, posing as MNC workers.

They stole the car, belonging Delhi-based businessman Eklavya Kukreja, from a bar on June 25. Kukreja had registered an FIR and the police was on the lookout for the accused, ever since.

"Our team got information about some MNC employees trying to sell a Toyota Camry of the same registration number as given by the victim. Our team immediately reached the spot and arrested one Sandeep aka Sandy.

Based on the tip off by Sandeep, we arrested the other accused Karan shortly thereafter. The car has been recovered from them," a police officer said.

During the interrogation, the police found that the accused belong to good families and have well-paying jobs.
"Sandeep alias Sandy works as a bartender in a reputed bar in South Delhi and has also been teaching in a prestigious bartending training institute in Mehrauli," the police officer said.

"He is an experienced teacher, and many of his students are working in different restro-bars in Delhi. Sandy often met his students at the bars for free liquor. The other accused Karan Kaushik is the son of a retired officer from the ministry of defence," the officer added.
