Gang busted following hundred cases of auto-lifting

This gang of eight was driving Delhi police crazy. On Wednesday, the Crime Branch arrested Ram Kumar (33), Raj Kumar (36), Amjad Mirza (30), Javed (35), Sandeep (25), Pankaj (35), Praveen (23) and Sukhchain (28). The culprits are allegedly involved in 100 cases of thefts of cars and bikes, all within the last one year.



"We have arrested 8 persons, all from a gang. Almost all of these people were involved in commission of crime in their past records. This gang was working in the NCR area. They would steal cars and bikes from the NCR and then sell them in the interior areas of Punjab, Haryana and UP," said a police officer.

The cops have recovered 16 stolen vehicles including two Toyota Innovas, a Mahindra Bolero, a Mahindra Scorpio, a Chervorlet Tavera, a Hyundai Santro, two Maruti Wagon R cars, a Tata Indigo, a Hyundai i10 and six bikes.

"We have recovered ten cars and six bikes from the accused. The culprits also made fake documents of the vehicles to cheat people. We are investigating the case and are trying to crack their nexus in different states," the officer added.

A 35-year-old businessman was murdered and robbed of his Bolero car in Fatehpur Beri area of south Delhi on Wednesday morning. A police official said that the deceased, identified as Shiv Narayan, was a native of Palwal and had come to Delhi for some work when he was attacked by unidentified assailants who stole his car. His body was found lying in a pool of blood on Mother Teresa road. Shiv Narayan used to deal in scraps. His family members said that he left home in the Bolero to Delhi after which he went missing. On they were informed by police about his murder. Shiv's body bore multiple injuries mark on his chest and legs. Police said that they have lodged an FIR of murder.
