Matter of Rs 2 lakh
Khan Burahanulla Abdul Baki had accepted Rs 2 lakh from Aslam Kasim Bagwan and Momin Wahaf Nijamuddin promising them jobs.
Since Baki failed to keep his promise, last September, Bagwan and Nijamuddin approached the Cantonment police station.
The case against the accused was registered after JMFC A G Sangatani passed an order on the basis of application filed by Baki, alleging that the police officials, and the complainants, forced him to write cheques in Bagwan and Nijamuddin's names.
Acting on Baki's plea the court passed an order on June 9 asking the Swargate police to register a case against the five accused.
Swargate police officials registered a case against Bagwan, Nijamuddin, Sub-Inspector Vasudev Tukaram Patil and Constables Nilesh Bhausaheb Patil and Sunil Sadashiv Khatake under Sections 329, 347, 167, 34, 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code.
"The person, who had allegedly failed to keep his promise, later agreed to return the money to both the complainants and the matter was resolved," Police Inspector Sushma Chavan of the Cantonment police station said.
âCharges baseless'
Chavan said that the police had not forced Baki to make payment towards the complainants.u00a0
