Afghan, carrying cocaine in stomach, nabbed
When 24-year-old Hafizullah, a native of Afghanistan, was admitted to Max hospital on January 19 in an unconscious condition the doctors initially thought that he had consumed too much alcohol.u00a0
However, when a string of cello tapes came out of his mouth while vomiting the doctors got suspicious. And it did not stopped at that. Hafizullah also threw out three packets containing a white powder. They immediately called the police and later it was found to be cocaine.
On instructions of the police, the doctors conducted endoscopy of Hafizullah's stomach and they were amazed to find four more packets of 10 grams each. They were also taken out and the police started interrogating the Afghan.
He told the police that the consignment was to be delivered at a few places in Goa and Manali. Police sources told MiD DAY that it was Hafizullah's first India visit and he had flown to Delhi January 14.
"Since he consumed the cocaine packets, they could not be traced even in the security check and at the X-ray counter of the airport. He was to hand over the consignment to his associate Hidayatullah in Delhi after which it would have been distributed. We are investigating the case and tracing his associates," said a senior police official.
A small-time mobile repair mechanic, Hafizullah wanted to make a quick buck and therefore agreed to smuggle cocaine into the country.u00a0
