The BJP today said the Centre should exert pressure on the Sri Lankan government to end the ongoing war with LTTE in the island nation and decide on a package for Tamils, granting them equal rights.
"The UPA government should ask Sri Lanka end the war and come to the negotiation table with LTTE. It should also ask the Island nation to implement the Indo-Sri Lanka peace accord," state president L Ganesan said here.
He alleged that the Congress was not "bothered" to solve the issue, despite UPA partners DMK and PMK, exerting pressure on the matter.
"The Congress was not looking at the issue as suffering of innocent Tamils, but with the mindset that they (LTTE) were the killers of its leader and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi," he alleged.
