The Guide speaks to Hoshnar Bomi Kaikobad about his display of charcoal paintings
Artist Hoshnar Bomi Kaikobad has a unique style of painting. Instead of the regular oil paintings and water colour art that he used to exhibit earlier, he decided to make art using charcoal sticks for his latest exhibition featuring 30 of his paintings. He describes working within a black and white medium as "difficult as one has to see that it does not smudge because charcoal spreads easily".

This 26 year-old is a graduate from the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya and has had several shows in the city. He worked in Mumbai as a graphic artist but left it for pursuing his calling for the fine arts. He is a great admirer of the Renaissance period in art and of artists like Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci and Rembrandt.
"I like using charcoal sticks and prefer not to use pastels as I find them hard," he says. This exhibition will also have some compositions that he had done after the 26/11 episode. The subjects vary and include a lady dancing, a Pegasus and the countryside from Hoshnar's travels.
Hoshnar has worked with Aamir Khan Productions too. He modestly admits that Prateik Babbar's room in the movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was painted by him.u00a0 He is working with the same director on another project, which will be released soon. But he still feels he has a long way to go.
