City police have booked a case against underworld don Chhota Shakeel for trying to get Jeevraj Alva killed.

It was Shakeel who assigned his aide, Rashid Malbari, to kill Alva while the latter was in hiding, a senior police officer who interrogated Malbari said.

Malbari has even named the person who gave Shakeel the contract to kill Alva. But the interrogating officer did not want to reveal the name since it was a "high-profile person".

We have prepared a detailed report and will send it to theu00a0 authorities concerned so that they can bring Shakeel to Bangalore for interrogation when he is arrested, joint commissioner of police (crime) Alok Kumar said.

Distributor

It was Malbari who distributed weapons among gang members. He himself was given au00a0 9 mm China-made pistol by Shakeel for his safety.

This pistol became his soulmate since 1993 and he used it to carry out many contract killings at the behest of boss Shakeel, the officer said.

In 1997, Malbari's brother Ismail (also a Chhota Shakeel aide) was killed by the Chhota Rajan gang while he was being taken to court.

Shakeel told Malbari to eliminate the killer, John, and his friend Prashanth. Which Malbari did, along with associate Mastan from Kerala, at the Mangalore railway station.

Happiness

This was Malbari's biggest success and he is happy, even now, at the thought of avenging his brother's murder.

The duo later fled to Tamil Nadu and from there to Kerala. But Shakeel called and told them to move to Bangalore and stay with Salauddin at K G Halli.

While Malbari was there, he got a call from Shakeel asking him to eliminate Alva.

"But before I could chalk out plans with Salauddin, an accidental firing happened that resulted in Salauddin's friend being injured."

Malbari, Mastan and Saluddin escaped to Mumbai.

This is the first time Shakeel has been booked by city police. He has been booked under the Arms Act, for criminal conspiracy and anti-national activities.
