Rs 25 lakh found in their possession
A 16-year- old, who eloped with his girlfriend on July 6, was arrested from the Yamuna Nagar area of Haryana on Monday. Police also recovered Rs 25 lakh from the accused. The incident came to light on July 6 when Narender Singh, a resident of Raghu Nagar area of South-West Delhi, reported to police that his 17-year-old daughter had been kidnapped by a resident of the neighbourhood.
"During probe, it was revealed that the accused was a minor and was missing from his house along with Rs 25 lakh.u00a0 A week ago, the boy was beaten up by his step brother and father for stealing the money," said a police official.
It also came to light that a neighbour and friend of the accused, Surender, was also missing from his rented house, along with his wife and valuables. Reportedly, Surender used to help the couple meet stealthily. Police feared he might have hurt them for the money they were carrying.
"As the boy had run away with a huge amount of cash, there was strong apprehension that Surender might have hurt the couple. Raids were conducted on his father's house in Railway colony, Pul Mithai, Delhi, his paternal home in Ajamgarh, UP , and his in-laws' house in Tokiwalan, Azad Market, Delhi. Meanwhile, it was revealed that Surender and his family were residing in Patiala, Punjab and his sister was residing in Mumbai. Accordingly, teams were dispatched to Mumbai, Patiala and Ajamgarh," said Anil Kumar Ojha, DCP, south-west district.
"Meanwhile, sources were deployed, technical surveillance was mounted and call data record (CDR) of Surender's mobile was analysed. It was found his mobile was used in Yamuna Nagar area (Haryana) thrice during the last 20 days. Raids were conducted in Yamuna Nagar and we finally succeeded in recovering the girl, along with her juvenile paramour. Surender was also nabbed and the money was recovered," he added.
