Officials say committee will have no powers as fee-hike case is pending in high court
Officials in the city are yet to form a divisional committee even though a Government Resolution about regulating and approving the fee structure of unaided schools in the state has been passed on July 15.
The same committee has already been formed in Mumbai which includes deputy director of education as president or chairperson, a recognised and registered chartered accountant, a cost and works accountant, a parent as member, a registered member of an educational institute, a NGO member and an account officer from deputy director of education.u00a0u00a0u00a0
However, their counterparts in the city are in no mood to form the committee yet.
V A Salunke, account officer, deputy director's office, said: "We have not yet formed the committee and even if it is formed, we will have no power in our hands and won't be able to take decisions as the case is still pending with the high court," he said.
The committee is supposed to monitor the accounts pay revision and also check if the fee will profit the schools or not.
Just an excuse
Jayant B Jain, president of Forum for Fairness in Education and All India Federation of PTA said it was just an excuse. "Once the government has passed the GR, the committee has to be passed and it does not matter
if the case is pending with the high court. The case may continue for the next five years. It has nothing to
do with the committee," Jain said.
