A father, a husband, a financial consultant from a family that has a teacher, a lecturer, a lawyer and an engineer has turned out to be a member and financial secretary of a terrorist organisation. Yes, this is all about 40-year-old Sheikh Sadik Hussain alias Nazir.
The Delhi police Special cell arrested Nazir on Wednesday from Hauz Rani area of Old Delhi after receiving a tip off from Imphal police. The police said that Nazir was wanted in Manipur and was handling financial operations for People's United Liberation Front.
Special cell sources said Nazir hailed from a well to do and educated family and had five brothers, all of them well settled. Nazir, a graduate from Imphal University was working as a financial consultant in a reputed company in Delhi. His wife is a staff nurse in a local hospital while his sister is a lecturer in an engineering college in Faridabad. His brothers are employed as teacher, lawyer, and engineer.
According to the police, Nazir had been living in Delhi for the last two years with his wife and two children. During interrogation, he has claimed that he was a businessman. "We received a tip off that he was in the city and was wanted in four cases including an attempt to murder case. He was also charged under Arms Act and Explosives Act. The case details are with the Imphal police," said a senior police official.
A local court granted a five-day transit remand to the Manipur police.
