To meet on Feb 13 to showcase their talent
They are in love and want to tell the world about it. So on February 13, a day before Valentine's Day, Delhi's
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community wil meet at a cultural event to show they too can romance.
The
Valentine Day event, Queer Cafe, being organised by Nigah, a group fighting for the cause of lesbians and gays, will not only showcase the community's talent but also question those who tag them as being "queer".
At the
Valentine Dayu00a0event, patrons will share their artistic capabilities through song, dance, poetry, prose, monologue, comedy, drama, social critique, yodelling, yelling or just by rooting for others.
Genderless loveSays Monish, a volunteer who joined Nigah last year, "Open Mic is not only about celebrating good times, but has the important function of featuring the artistic forte of Delhiites with genderless love that is otherwise invisible or ignored.
"It's time people realised that a person is not demented just because he/she is queer. They pay their taxes and they work just as hard as any other person. It's time they are treated equally, not like a minority community."
Where: The Attic, Regal Building, Connaught Place
