A two-day demonstration on disaster management techniques for the common public was inaugurated at the University of Pune.
The event has been organised in the backdrop of the recent Mumbai terror attacks and consistent threats posed by terrorists.

Howitzers, Bofors guns, missiles, reconnaissance boats, various types of rifles and ammunitions are being displayed.
Member of the National Disaster Management Authority, K M Singh, inaugurated the programme.
Participants in various stalls include Civil Defence, Home Guard, Central Reserve Police Force, Ammunition Factory (Kirkee), INS Shivaji and various other departments in the army.
NGOs and social organisations like the Sarhad, Petroleum Conservation and Research Association, Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana, Center for Disaster Management and Studies, First Aid, also participated in the event.
Civil Defence stall coordinator Anil Aware told MiD DAY that the attempt was to educate the common man on matters related to civil defence in various localities, government departments and security service outfits.
"Last year we trained the university security on how to be more effective in maintaining high security standards," Aware said.u00a0
But he also stressed that the department was not informed about any immediate threat to the city.
